About the conference
Founded in 1922, Rehabilitation International (RI Global) is a worldwide organization comprised of people with disabilities, service providers,government agencies, academics, researchers and advocates working to improve the quality of life of people with disabilities. With member organizations in more than 100 countries and in all regions of the world, RI Global also provides a forum for the exchange of experience and information on research and practice.

About Macao Special Administrative Region (Macao)
Macao is located on the western bank of the Pearl River Delta in southern Guangdong Province, the People’s Republic of China – adjoins the Mainland city of Zhuhai and lies some 60 kilometers to the west of Hong Kong. Macao comprises Macao Peninsula, Taipa, and Coloane. The Macao Special Administrative Region has an area of 30.8 km2, it is one of the densest populated regions in the world and it is also a region with a relatively high per capita income in Asia.The official languages of Macao are Chinese and Portuguese and Cantonese is widely spoken in the community. Besides, Mandarin and English are generally used in Macao. Macao is eight hours ahead of Greenwich Mean Time
The total population is estimated at around 656,700. Over 90% of Macao residents are ethnic Chinese. According to the statistics of the Macao population, Macao has around 13000 persons who have disabilities. Based on the principles of the United Nations “Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities”, the Macao government has carried out the “Ten-year plan of Rehabilitation Services from 2016-2025”, which aims to make a community which based on equal rights and inclusiveness, in order to let the disabled persons to fully participate in the social activities, and become the contributors in the society.
For centuries, Macao is a place for acculturation for the East and West, therefore, Macao is rich in cultural heritage. On 15 July 2005, “Historic Centre of Macao”—22 buildings and 8 squares was inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List and became the 31st designated World Heritage Site in China. In addition, Macao was designated as the member of the UNESCO Creative City of Gastronomy on 31 October 2017, which became the third city that awarded this title in China.
With the full launch of the Greater Bay Area construction, the Macao government has signed “The Framework Agreement on Deepening Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Co-operation in the Development of the Bay Area” in Hong Kong on 1 July 2017. Under the support of the Central People’s Government of PRC, the governments of Guangdong, Hong Kong, and Macao will renovate and improve their mechanism for co-operation and establish a cooperative relationship that is mutually complementary. Macao makes use of its advantages when taking part in this national initiative, which brings more opportunities for its development and economic growth, and fully cooperating with national development and integrating into the“Belt and Road” construction.
