Information Communication Technology (ICT) is becoming a key driver for the successful employment of Person with Disabilities (PwDs) due to its permeation and proliferation of ICT in the world of work. ICT has changed how people build their skills, how they search for work, how they do their work, etc. The internet and digital technologies are also changing how entrepreneurs, people who are self-employed, and free-lancers are raising capital, finding clients, and selling services. Many PwDs pursue self-employment due to the barriers of getting jobs in the competitive labour market. The internet and digital technologies are changing the field of self-employment and entrepreneurship through online work.<\/p>\n

Digital technologies have brought unprecedented opportunities to the Asia-Pacific region, where PwDs, on one hand face challenges in tapping the potentials presented by the Internet and on the other hand could significantly improve their employment and entrepreneurship. The Rehabilitation International Asia and Pacific Regional Conference 2019 (RIAPRC 2019) offers a back to back workshop to better prepared the candidates for the digital era.<\/p>\n

Purpose and objectives<\/span><\/p>\n

  1. To provide a training opportunity on accessible information and technology.<\/li>\n
  2. To provide a platform for exchange and sharing of disability-inclusive and innovation.<\/li>\n
  3. To promote an inclusive and harmonious community through web accessibility and information.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n

    \n<\/span>English and Mandarin Chinese. (Spoken interpretation will be provided)<\/span><\/p>\n

    Global Disability Development Fund
    \nGlobal Disability Development Fund will provide a grant to support 25 candidates. Candidates meeting the following criteria will be considered for the Grant Subsidy:<\/p>\n

      \n
    1. RI members or belonging to a Disabled Persons Organization (DPO) in Asia-Pacific region,<\/li>\n
    2. Age between 16-60,<\/li>\n
    3. Capable of communicating in English or Mandarin,<\/li>\n
    4. Experienced in using computer and the Internet,<\/li>\n
    5. Highly motivated to create employment and income-generating opportunities for PwDs,<\/li>\n
    6. Submit one or more abstracts for RIAPRC 2019.<\/li>\n<\/ol>\n
